Der Iran beherrscht in diesen Wochen und Monaten die Schlagzeilen der Weltpresse – die Auseinandersetzungen um die Wiederwahl von Staatspräsident Ahmadinejad und die starke  Opposition dagegen ebenso wie die Frage, wie weit das Land schon ist beim Wettlauf, sich die „islamische Atombombe“ zu sichern. Und was  bedeutet das alles für Israel, bzw. den Westen allgemein?

Darüber spricht der israelische Publizist und Islam-Kenner Professor Mordechai Kedar.

Unser Referent ist Professor an der Bar Ilan-Universität und betreut das Departement für arabische und Nahost-Studien, er ist u.a. auch Mitglied des Inter-Disciplinary Center  in Herzliya. Er hat zahlreiche Publikationen zum israelisch-arabischen Konflikt und zur islamischen Welt verfasst.

Iran is a top subject of the world media in the last few weeks. The clashes about the re-election of President Ahmadinejad including the strong opposition boost the headline as much as the discussion about the role of the country in making strong efforts to get “the Islamic bomb”.

What does all this mean for Israel and for the western world altogether?

We will try to find answers with Professor Mordechai Kedar. Professor Kedar is a long-term lecturer at the Bar Ilan University, responsible there for Arabic and Middle East studies and is also a member of the prestigious Inter Disciplinary Center in Herzliya. Professor Kedar has published very distinguished publications about the Israel-Arab conflict and the Islamic world.
